Devblog 33 – Shields & Health Rework
Welcome back to the Rekt Games devblog! Let’s get straight to it.
Continuing on from last week, when we added stuns; we keep adding incredible features.
This week, we’re experimenting with shields! 😮
So, how does it work? Basically, the idea so far is that when an enemy is hit fast enough (as if it was a combo), their shields will deplete. This means, going from 100 to 0.
When 0 is reached, the enemy gets stunned & can be executed within a short timeframe. If the enemy is not executed, they will start regenerating their shield over time, unless they get hit.
If hit when their shield is down and players are hit, their health will go down. If their hp reaches 0, they can die without being executed.
What does this mean for FIGHTWORLD? We experimented with the idea of not being able to die at first, and came up with this as an alternative solution, and so far, this seems the most promising. It just feels right to knock someone down to 0 shield and execute them; or for the opponent, still being in the game after their shield is 0; and fight on with their original life. This makes fights much more intriguing, where people do not have to run to health packs and can stay within a fight. They can even fight & if they are not hit, will be able to regen their shield continuously.
It’s going to be interesting to see how far we can push this and what level of depth we can actually reach in the end.
