Devblog 5 – Level setting & ingame screenshot

Welcome back to the Rekt Games devblog! Let’s get straight to it.

Level settings

Last devblog, we presented the overdraw on one of our maps. This week, we’re proud to show you one part of that map, with the correct visual setting. This is one of the 2v2 maps that we’ve found works really well.

Regarding the visual style of our game, the whole setting is that of a modern, futuristic gameshow. This is why you will see tons of screens, lighting and weird platforming places. In the picture, the capture zone is highlighted with blue, there is also a trap area which is highlighted with red.

As this game still is a platforming one, for now, the way to see if a platform is dangerous to fall down in is by looking at the yellow tape danger zone markings. This not only ensures that the player knows if they will fall down or not, but also plan for potential attacks if enemies are around that area.

Furthermore, in this level design, the player can either choose to jump over the trap area in order to get to the capture zone, or take the safer route, although having to run around the area. The choice is yours and as of now, it’s been quite scary to jump over the trap area. We find that amazing.
